Si, il driver è stato caricato ed hai il 3D attivo, per il backup è semplice, nel tuo caso:
Backup = sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg-bak.conf
Ripristino = sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg-bak.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf
semplice no?
Ci sono comunque i nuovi driver intel, e cioè: xserver-xorg-video-intel, installandoli si disinstallano automaticamente i vecchi, quindi bisogna modificare xorg alla sezione device, da così:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller"
Driver "i810"
BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection
diventa così:
Section "Device"

(come sul mio), altra cosa, se vedi che quando avvii un applicazione da terminale ti da un pò di linee di errore, tipo:

è una tavoletta grafica "Wacom", se non è presente è inutile ci siano.
Dopo le modifiche rifai il bachup "incrementale", cioè il secondo sarà:
