Smanettando senza consapevolezza con supergrub ho combinato un casino, e cioè non riesco piu' a ripèristinare il grub di windows, ho provato a editarlo da linux o rebottato ma niente.
Dato che avevo già in programma ho salvato i dati e formattato la partizione di sistema di windows, ho reinstallato xp, ma niente, all'avvio se scelgo windows come s.o da avviare mi da starting up...e nn avvia niente...
chi mi aiuta?

ma da quello che ho capito hai reinstallato windows?? e ti parte ancora il grub??
Questo è molto strano, perchè se installi windows in un disco dual-boot, il grub di win se ne sbatte se hai installato già altri SO, e ti fà automaticamente win. Non è che dopo averlo formattato nuovamente hai smanettato dietro al grub?? hai controllato che in /boot/grub/menu.lst nei parametri di win sia indicato correttamente la partizione da eseguire?? |

Ma quando avvii Windows ti appare la prima schermata di Windows o solo la scritta che citi?

no praticamente sulla mia macchina ho montati due dischi.
il primo da 160 gb diviso in due partizioni una con windows e l'altra per i dati di windows canzoni film e cavolate varie
l'altro disco da 40 giga dedicato interamente a ubuntu.
ora, quando avvio la macchina mi si presenta la solita schermata dove mi chiede con che s.o voglio avviare se clicco ubuntu va tutto bene, se clicco windows mi da una schermata nera con in alto a sinistra la scritta" startin up....." e da li nn si muove piu' |

| Ok, allora niente di grave, posta il risultato del comando che ti ho scritto sopra ed anche il comando "sudo fdisk -l", sicuramente manca un pezzo in grub, altrimenti bisognerà reinstallarlo con la Live. |

A me sembra ok, comunque prova una cosa, edita il menu.lst in questo modo:
Backup:
sudo cp /boot/grub/menu.lst /boot/grub/menu.bak
quindi editiamolo:
sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
sostituisci l'ultima parte, cioè questa:
# This entry automatically added by the Debian installer for a non-linux OS
# on /dev/sda1
title Microsoft Windows XP Professional
root (hd0,0)
savedefault
makeactive
chainloader +1
con questa:
# This entry automatically added by the Debian installer for a non-linux OS
# on /dev/sda1
title Microsoft Windows XP Professional
root (hd0,4)
savedefault
makeactive
chainloader +1
in pratica lo facciamo puntare su "sda5", non mi sembra la cosa giusta, ma a volte..
Salva, chiudi e riavvia, vedi se Windows si avvia normalmente. |

Ok, niente, rieditalo e mettilo come era, non ci credevo troppo, ma..
Secondo me la più corta è avviare il PC da Live CD e reinstallare Grub, vedi qui:

Yves ho combinato un casino....
Il disco da 160 gb che avevo diviso in partizione di sistema e partizione dati...
Bene ho formattato la partizione di sistema solamente, in modo di reinstallarla e adesso me lo vede come unica partizione , se ci clicco sopra mi dice disco non formattato formattare il disco?..
Dimmi che non significa che ho perso tutta la partizione dati ti prego....
C'è modo per recuperare i miei dati?? |

Buon giorno a tutti, come hai formattato quella partizione? con il cd di xp o da ubuntu?
Se ti puo' servire qui trovi un programma per il recupero delle partizioni che gira su linux htt*://[www].oneopensource.it/tag/distribuzioni-linux/page/2/
si chiama Trinity rescue disk, vedi se puo' esserti utile. |

Shade, nemmeno da Linux vedi la partizione? se non la vedi nemmeno di li hai schiacciato la fat, quindi devi recuperarla con Windows e la console di ripristino (CD di XP e (credo) "R" all'avvio, poi cercare di sistemare, in rete c'è un bel pò di guide, questa ad esempio:
